Are you looking for a simple-to-use slave flash in your multiple-flash set up? Or are you not satisfied with images taken with your on-camera flash? In either case you should consider the Godox CF-18. It is a compact, cable-free, light-weight flash that has a go-anywhere attitude. It not only adds an extra punch in flash power, but also gives greater creativity and lighting effects in shooting your subjects.

There are two flash modes, Normal and Slave. Select Normal when you mount the Godox CF-18 directly on your camera’s female hot shoe. While in Slave Mode, there are four modes to choose from, which are designed to work with cameras with different built-in pre flash settings for red-eye reduction:

S1: Instant synchronization, flash is fired at the first flash from camera;
S2: Pre-flash once, flash fired at the second flash from camera;
S3: Pre-flash twice, flash fired at the third flash from camera;
S4: Pre-flash three times, flash fired at the forth flash from camera.

Included in the package is a hot shoe bracket, which allows mounting both the camera and CF-18 flash unit via a standard screw and a female hot shoe respectively. There is a soft rubber padding to protect the bottom of your camera as well as giving a secured grip. Reminiscent of the classic flash bracket used by photographers before the age of radio flash triggering device, the bracket flash setup eliminates shadows caused by your lens hood and at the same time, gives a more natural lighting effect compared with using only the on-camera flash. You can also adjust the angle of the CF-18 and securing it with the locking wheel underneath.

With light stands, umbrella swivel, and other light fixing devices, you may place the light-weight CF-18 easily in your shooting location. The flash has an eye-catching red-coloured LED ready lamp that lights up when the flash is ready for use. So even in a well lid studio or under sunlight, you may easily check the flash status. A test button locates on the back panel of the flash. Press it to ensure the flash is charged and ready to fire. Aside from using the Godox CF-18 in optical slave mode or as an on-camera flash, you can certainly also use the CF-18 with Cactus flash triggers such as the Cactus V5.
